Meet Katie-running for The HavenI run the Covered Bridges Half Marathon for The Haven because it gives me an opportunity to ask my friends and family to join me in supporting an organization that has been immensely helpful in our community for as long as I can remember, lending people a hand when they need a meal, a place to stay, an afterschool program, or advocacy. I hope you’ll consider running with The Haven team or contributing to the work The Haven does in whatever way works for you. |

Meet Scott-running for The HavenI am running the CBHM for the third time and running in honor my father Stan Orzell who passed away in 2019. He grew up in central Vermont and had a heart of gold, known for his acts of service and volunteerism. Had he lived closer, I have no doubt that he would’ve been an active supporter of the Upper Valley Haven, its mission, purpose and the people the Haven serves. I’m proud to be able to fundraise on behalf of the Haven for this third time this year and look forward to another great experience on race day! |

Meet Team Rioles -running for The HavenOur parents / grandparents, Fred and Lois Rioles, taught us the importance of enjoying family, friends, food, spending time in nature, daily exercise, and giving back to those in need. Raising money for Upper Valley Haven by running a half marathon seems like a perfect tribute to them and all they taught us over the years. We have been fortunate enough to spend time skiing and hiking in Vermont. We realize that as beautiful as the Upper Valley is, making a living there year round is not always easy. All of our training and fundraising is for the Upper Valley Haven, the hub for anyone facing poverty in the community. Their mission is to support of the UV community, the Haven assists those who are experiencing poverty to be free from hunger, securely housed, and to pursue a self-directed life. The Haven is open 365 days per year and never charges for any of its services. They serve over 14,500 people per year. |
