This week we’ll tackle a few Frequently Asked Questions
For our first time runners (and our returning veterans) please check our FAQs page
There are A LOT of answers there to questions many of our runners have asked in the past. We hope these answers will help get you ready for our race.
You can also check out our Runner Handbook for more information.
Do you give out finisher medals to participants?
YES we do. At the Finish Line you can collect your medal and your race t-shirt.
And the top three men and women overall and age groups get special prizes. Like Miranda Thomas pottery, Top Acres Farm Vermont Maple Syrup and Sugarbush Farm Vermont Cheddar Cheese.
However, we do not mail medals or prizes.
Is there BEER at the Finish Line?
Yes there is. You’ll need a photo ID and CASH sales ONLY.
Can I get dropped off at the race start rather than take the bus?
Yes, but you must be dropped off no later than 7:15 am at the start area at Saskadena Six Ski Area in Pomfret VT.
247 Stage Rd, South Pomfret, Vermont, 05067
Do you allow walkers?
Please DO NOT plan to WALK our half marathon.
This is a running race. We provide support on the course in the form of water, traffic control and first aid for those maintaining up to a 13 minute/mile pace.
You must maintain a 13 minute mile pace. “Rolling” closures of water stops, on course first aid and police traffic control occur based on this 13 minute mile pace.
We provide support from 8:15 (Start) until 11:15 (Finish Line closes)
For your safety, your should plan to RUN this race not Walk it.
Do you allow baby joggers?
The rules prohibit baby joggers out of safety concerns among other issues.
If you are out of babysitting options, we reluctantly permit them but they must start at the very back of the pack and do not pass until Mile 5 (Billings Farm)
There were a number of close calls in the 2018, 2019 and 2022 races.
This is a running race for 13 minute mile runners or less.
Safety is our greatest concern.
Baby joggers/Strollers must start at the very back of the race or you will DNF.
What are the best SPECTATOR spots?
There are three (3) places to watch runners, two (2) in downtown Woodstock #1 The Iron Bridge on Elm Street and #2 Middle Bridge at the Woodstock Green, and at the Finish Line.
If you are viewing your runner in Woodstock be sure to leave time to drive from Woodstock to Quechee (Spectator Parking Closes at 10 a.m.) and USE ROUTE 4 to get to Quechee-many of the back roads are CLOSED on race day.
Please visit our Spectator Page for info and details.
The Finish Line Spectator Parking lot is open from 8 a.m. and CLOSES at 10 a.m.
Are there still spots for the Woodstock Chamber’s Pre-race Pasta Supper Saturday night June 3rd?
Yes there are but they are filling up quickly. Make your reservations today!
Still have questions, still looking for answers-check out our FAQs page.
TRAINING
How is your training going? Need some tips? Please visit our Training Page
Are you comfortably running 10-12 miles yet? We hope you are. You’ve got this!!
Remember we are expecting our runners to run at a 13 minute mile pace.
You should be crossing the finish between 11 AM and 11:30 AM
This is A RUNNING RACE not a fun run or walk.
(Keeping this pace allows our overworked volunteers to get home at a reasonable hour on Sunday)
NEED TO DROP-PLEASE LET US KNOW
If you need to drop, we really hope you don’t have to, but if you do, please email RACE DIRECTOR Mike S.
and let him know. This helps us plan for water and food and helps us reduce waste.
